- Wicked Games releases Jack slot
- Betting range from $/€0.25 – $/€500
- Max win of 1,500x
Jack the Ripper isn’t exactly the first figure you’d expect to inspire a slot game, but it’s a theme that keeps resurfacing. The mystery of the infamous killer who stalked London’s East End in the late 1800s still fascinates people, and apparently, slot developers too.
Wicked Games has joined that list with its release, “Jack“, a dark, moody game that seems to share more than a few traits with the studio’s first title, Sidekick Jack. That earlier effort didn’t make much of a splash, so the question is whether Jack manages to do any better.
Visually, Jack the Ripper themes usually allow studios to experiment with imagery of beautiful cobblestone streets, gas lamps, and a thick and mysterious London fog. Wicked Games follows that path, setting the reels on the back of a horse-drawn coach rolling through moonlit Whitechapel. It looks decent enough, but it’s not particularly striking.
There’s atmosphere, but not much tension, more “Victorian backdrop” than “edge-of-your-seat horror.”
The game runs on a 6×4 grid with 50 paylines, paying left to right. Wicked Games has kept volatility low, giving it a 1 out of 5 rating, and set the RTP at 96.11%. Bets range from $/€0.25 up to $/€500 per spin, or higher if you use the ante bet, which multiplies your stake by 1.4x for better odds of landing free spins.
Symbols are what you’d expect: 10 through A for the lower-paying ones, and five character symbols at the top. Six of a kind pays 0.8x to 2x for royals and 3x to 10x for the characters. Wilds appear on all reels except the first, standing in for other symbols except scatters.
Special Features
The base game is pretty barebones, with no extra features to keep things moving. The real action starts when you land three scatters, which triggers 10 free spins. Scatters only appear on the last three reels and also pay 2x your bet when they hit.
During free spins, any popping wild symbols turn sticky and remain locked in their position for the remainder of the round. Players can retrigger the feature once more when landing a scatter-wild on the first reel. This will also grant them five additional free spins.
The game also includes a buy option at 70x your stake for players who do not wish to wait for the feature to drop naturally.
All in all, Wicked Games’ new Jack slot is an improvement over the studio’s previous Sidekick Jack version, with good sticky wilds and plenty of appeal for fans of dark historical themes.
