The scatter pays trend has been going strong for years, and players are getting a bit weary of yet another “Sweet Bonanza 1000” or “Gates of Olympus 1000” clone.
To stand out in this crowded space, a slot needs either true innovation or at least a unique hook to grab attention. That’s where “Electro Cubes“, the latest release from AvatarUX, steps in.
Developed in collaboration with creative studio Mr Wu, Electro Cubes manages to inject some fresh ideas into the format, despite not making the flashiest first impression.
Visually, Electro Cubes leans into a cold, futuristic vibe, something between Hacksaw’s Cubes and BTG’s Star Clusters.
It feels a bit like flying solo through deep space, with only glowing shapes and electronic ambiance to keep you company. It’s not the most immediately striking game AvatarUX has released, but stick with it, and it starts to show its depth.
One of the standout features is a volatility slider, letting players choose between low or high variance gameplay. Depending on your setting, the RTP ranges from 95.97% to 96.05%, and bets range from 10 cents up to $/€100 per spin.
The game uses a scatter pays system, meaning six or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid trigger a win. Winning clusters disappear and are replaced by new symbols, allowing for chain reactions in a single spin.
The symbols themselves are colourful cubes, with six low-paying and six high-paying symbols offering payouts from 0.2x up to 500x the bet for the biggest combinations. Wilds are frequent and substitute for any regular symbol, playing a key role in big wins.
Special Features
Cube Nudge randomly shifts rows or columns to potentially form new wins. There’s also a Collect Meter that fills with winning symbols.
Players who reach certain milestones activate the Electro Wild Throw. In turn, this adds one to three wilds to the grid.
Filling the meter completely will trigger this three times, as well as the Bonus Game, where five free spins with wilds, nudges, and multipliers that can stack up to x10.
