Shark & Spark Hold & Win” is BGaming’s freshest attempt at combining standard slot action with something on the creative side.

For the part, the studio has succeeded in its endeavor as the game built on a 6×5 scatter-pays layout features cascading reels and mixes a classic hold-and-win feature with a surprisingly entertaining board-game style bonus round.

All the extras help it stand out in an overcrowded market of ocean-themed slots.

With medium-high volatility, a generous 97% RTP, and a maximum payout of 5,000x your stake, there’s enough here to catch the attention of players looking for something beyond standard reel spinning.

BGaming decided to steer clear of the hyper-realistic underwater approach and instead opted for a colorful arcade-style design. The reels are packed with cartoon fish, glowing pearls, bubbles, and a cheerful little shark mascot floating beside the action.

The game has a clean and well-polished design without becoming visually overwhelming. Even during larger cascade sequences, everything remains easy to follow, which is surprisingly rare for modern scatter-pay slots.

The soundtrack is playful, matching the overall tone of the game without seeming too repetitive.

The new slot relies on a pay-anywhere mechanic where matching at least eight symbols anywhere on the reels generates a win. Winning symbols disappear after each payout, allowing new symbols to fall into place and potentially trigger additional cascades.

Special Features

Pink pearls collect additive values ranging from +1 to +20, while orange pearls apply will work by applying multipliers such as x2, x3, x5, or x10 to those totals. When both combine during a long cascade chain, payouts can jump quickly.

The base game might occasionally feel a bit flat between bonus triggers. Without strong cascade chains or pearl combinations landing together, spins sometimes lack excitement despite the fairly steady hit rate.

Landing four scatter symbols activates one of two separate bonus rounds, and this is where the slot becomes much more interesting.

The first feature is a standard hold-and-win respin mode. Sticky symbols remain locked while respins reset whenever new symbols land. It works well enough but doesn’t really do anything new.

The second feature, called Sharks & Ladders, is easily the highlight of the game.

Instead of traditional reels, players move along a board-game path using dice rolls. Along the way, the shark collects pearls, triggers boosters, climbs ladders, and lands on extra-roll spaces. Reaching the end unlocks a prize wheel capable of awarding the full 5,000x maximum payout.

It’s a genuinely creative mechanic that gives the slot far more personality than most hold-and-win releases currently on the market.

Another nice addition is the bonus buy feature, priced at 50x the stake, which also allows players to choose which bonus they want to enter instead of leaving it entirely to chance.

While not necessarily a must-play release, the new game is definitely one of BGaming’s more enjoyable recent slots and well worth trying if you spot it in your casino lobby.
