AvatarUX’s new “Reel Warriors” slot game throws a punchy twist into the world of online free slots, nicely blending in fast-paced gambling with old-school arcade fighting games.
The provider that “strives to provide the best gaming experience in a safe and responsible manner” has found its inspiration in classic titles like Street Fighter, carrying players back to the 90s and early 2000s.
The action unfolds on a standard 5×4 grid with 1,024 ways to win, where players can form combinations both left-to-right and right-to-left in the highly volatile slot.
Every win removes the matching symbols and respins their positions for a shot at extra hits, though the rest of the grid stays put, with no cascading tumbles.
Bets begin as low as 10 cents and can reach up to €/$300 per spin, and ther game has a theoretical top RTP of 96%. An optional ante bet increases your stake by 1.5x but doubles your chances of triggering the bonus.
Visually, the game leans hard into its retro-fighter roots. The soundtrack builds intensity during feature rounds, turning into what can only be described as “rave mode”.
In terms of symbols, low paying ones are triggered by spelling out with the letters C, O, M, B, A, and T, which pay up to 0.8x for five of a kind.
Higher paying symbols are represented by range of combat stances, kicks, punches, and elbow strikes, worth up to 13x.
Wilds show up on the second, third, or fourth reel, completing wins without also paying on their own.
Special Features
The main highlight in terms of special features is the Hit Collector, which tracks consecutive wins and gives access to different bonuses. For example, two hits will turn one to six low paying symbols into high paying ones.
Four hits will trigger the board to expand with extra rows while six hits will add one to three wild symbols. Finally, eight hits will introduce players to the bonus game with even cooler rewards.
In the bonus round, expanded rows stay active throughout, and the Hit Collector continues to offer rewards, minus the board expansion once fully upgraded.
For players short on patience, the X-press menu allows buying into the action. From a 5x “Head Start” to a gamble wheel or straight bonus buys, there are multiple paths to spin your way into the chaos.
All in all, Reel Warriors does a good job of injecting fresh flavor with the fun and creative concept behind it. However, the gameplay could have used more dynamic battle visuals to satisfy more slot aficionados.
