Heavy Metal Fans Don’t Have Much Choice Of Slot Games To Play

By Doug Holmes    | Aug 7, 2019

Online slot developers are always on the lookout for new themes and interesting plots to create a new slot game that will catch the attention of millions of slot lovers around the world.

Over the years, top slot developers like NetEnt, Playtech and Microgaming have used numerous themes ranging from TV shows, hit movies and super hero characters to create multiple slot games. Some slot developers have ventured into the music scene and come out with slot games covering iconic bands or used hit songs to create their slot games.

Sadly for heavy metal fans, most slot developers have ignored this genre and hence heavy metal slot lovers don’t have much of a choice when it comes to playing play slot games that revolve around their love for heavy metal music.

Slot developers have covered some of the popular hard rock bands such as Guns N Roses and Motorhead to create online slot games with similar names. However, they have preferred to stay away from the heavy metal genre as bands like Slipknot, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth have turned out to be a little too heavy and dark for them to create slot games.

There is a huge demand for heavy metal slots in Nordic and Scandinavian countries which have a huge heavy metal fan base. The US and UK also have a growing demographic of heavy metal fans and slot developers should look into this market and see if they can come up with a couple of new heavy metal slot games to meet this demand.

Too Risky For Developers

Don’t expect this to happen anytime soon as slot developers will be aware of the fact that they could open themselves up to a lawsuit given the flak that some of the above mentioned heavy metal bands receive. Bands like Slayer and Slipknot have been accused in the past of inciting violence amongst youngsters who claim that they heard voices in their heads to go and shoot people or kill themselves.

The latest instance of a band getting smeared for a mass shooting is The Acacia Strain. The shooter in Dayton, Ohio who killed 9 people on August 6 was wearing a t-shirt with the slogan ‘No heart to fear, no soul to steal’ from one of the songs of The Acacia Strain.

The band received negative publicity after the shooting and is yet another reason why slot developers will put heavy metal slots on the back burner.
