I have played Wolf Hunters for some time as I like this slot game, so let me give you an honest opinion about this Yggdrasil release. This is more or less a standard medium variance game that excels in bonus features, and offers three types of free spins games as well as a progressive game of reducing Werewolf’s health to 0. You also get Sticky Wild Re-Spins as well as a chance to get some Wilds that will expand horizontally or vertically. There’s a ton of bonus features here.
Main game and paytable
The game uses a familiar setup, it’s played on a 5×3 board with 20 mandatory paylines, and the bet per spin can range from €0.10 to €100. Yggdrasil allowed a €0.005 coin per payline bet in order to reduce the minimum bet from €0.20 to €0.10, and lure in more players who like to play with very small bets. Theoretical return to player (RTP) is 96.30%, that’s a more or less standard these days, and variance is medium so the game is easy to play. The paytable is exactly what you expect from a medium variance game, the four high-win symbols pay from 150 to 500 coins for five-of-a-kind while the four low-pay card suit symbols pay from 50 to 70 coins.
Wild substitute for all regular symbols, and landing any number of Wilds, starting at one, awards a re-spin with all Wilds sticky during the re-spin. If you land more Wilds during the re-spin, they will also stick and you’ll get another re-spin.
There are two Hunters in the game, Male or Female, and each have their own Rage Meter which you can see beside your reels. New players receive 70 and 30 Rage points for their Hunters. Whenever a Werewolf symbol lands on your reels, one of the two Hunters will attack him. If the Hunter wins, he or she will earn +1 point for the respective Rage Meter, the Werewolf will turn into a Wild symbol, and the health of the Werewolf – that starts at 600 – will be reduced by -1. If the Werewolf beats the Hunter, nothing happens.
The ultimate goal of this progressive game is to reduce the Werewolf’s health from 600 to 0, which will then award 10 Slayer Free Spins. During this feature, all Werewolf symbols that land will be automatically transformed into Wilds, and then expand to fill their entire reel. This is, of course, quite rewarding and is worth the wait. A good thing is that you know exactly how far you are from triggering the feature, so you can plan the end of your playing session accordingly.
If you land Bonus Scatter symbols on reels 1 and 5 in the main game, you’ll get 10 free spins. These are simply spins that are free, with an interesting wrinkle – the Hunters have a higher chance of winning their fight against the Werewolf during the free spins. During the feature, Hunters can be powered up by collecting 3 of their Bonus Scatter symbols during the free spins. If you power up a Hunter, you’ll get +2 free spins and all the Wilds from the Werewolf expand to the left (in case of Hunter) or up and down (in case of Huntress).
Finally, the third version of the free spins is the Hunter Free Spins. When one Hunter’s Rage Meter is filled to 100, you’ll get 10 free spins with that Hunter powered-up, which means Werewolf will act as an expanding Wild.
Wolf Hunters is a great slot game that’s fun to play, and these three free spins games are just awesome. In addition to this you got Sticky Wild Re-Spins, and all that is wrapped in an interesting dark theme. This is one of better slot games by Yggdrasil and a welcome addition to online gaming in October 2018.
